New kit from our soon to be overlords, the Chinese. HB:

I see mistakes already and considering their other kits i am not too confident this will be an accurate kit. Oh well, maybe it will be less work that Italeri kit anyway. Here is my build of it:

What's sad is that it isn't more accurate, considering the availability of accurate engineering drawings. Thanks for the news though. It seems most of the Chinese kit manufacturers are hit and miss. For every great kit they release, they have one that usually misses the mark.

Different Chinese companies are quite different. In my experience Dragon is usually up near the top in accuracy, detail, fit and finish and kit engineering with their armor and ship kits. Trumpeter has mediocre detail, fit and finish, kit engineering, and mostly contemptible accuracy. Hobbyboss is a subsidiary of trumpeter.

In one trumpeter 1/350 battleship kit, they actually manage get the starboard and port sides of the ship reversed, resulting in a model that is mirror image of what it should be.

My Dragon YB-49 has the intakes molded upside down. My Hobby Boss PAK-FA looks very good. Great Wall had a number of errors on their first release of the P-61, but it seems they're trying to correct them. Trumpeter is the worst though, some kits being quite good and the others making you scratch your head. It's just a shame to see Hobby Boss mess up the YF-23. I would have bought more than one if it had been accurate. Maybe one day they'll make an accurate F-16XL, since the only accurate kit of that ever made was in 1/144 scale.

Its better than the Zevda kit.

Hardly an achievement to be utterly fair. ;D I have yet to see a HB one being built, would be interesting how it looks finished. But i do agree, i think it should be easier to get out something presentable out of the HB kit than Zvezda.

Hobby Boss T-50 vs Zvezda and Resin Magazine (the latter is the most correct):

The HB model isn't in 1/72 scale - it's rather 1/68!

Dimensionally it may be more accurate, but in terms of getting the shapes/blending right, the HB kit is still better. The entire fuselage/engine nacelle blend in the Zvezda kit is much too pronounced. So the Zvezda kit gets point for the X,Y, Z dimensions and the HB kit gets points for more accurate cross sections. Maybe we can eventually get a kit that combines the two and ends up being accurate?

Well hopefully Zactoman will finish his 1/32 scale one of these days.

We won't see anything about the kit untill the next set of Trade model shows or when they announce the next batch of releases due in approx 2 mth time (whilst they list their 12-24 mth plans they break them up into monthly batches and only announce them 2 mrhs ahead)

Awsome ;) any fuselage shots?

I don't think they were shown yet. Better and more shots should appear this or next month.

Wondering if anyone has any news on this kit. Its the middle of August and I haven't seen a word about it. Has the release date changed?
