EFFECT OF SEVERAL JET-ENGINE AIR-INLET CONFIGURATIONS ON THE LOW SPEED STATIC LONGITUDINAL STABILITY CHARACTERISTICS AND QUANTITY FLOW OF A 1/6-SCALE MODEL OF THE MX-1764 AIRPLANE

This links MX-1764 to other Republic designs e.g. AP-75

Thank you my dear Paul,

and finally, that list makes us know that mystery designation.

From Air Pictorial 9/1955,

they mentioned a competition for long-range bomber interceptor, and a preliminary
design and mock-up contracts had been awarded for Lockheed,North American and
Northrop, did they mean this contest or WS-202A (XF-108) contender ?.

That's question because they added the word "bomber" in the description.

How to get it again, that's PDF ?,and what about my suggesting if it
was the same WS-202A or not ?.

Updated PDF links.

October 1955 contracts to Lockheed, North American and Northrop was LRI-X / WS-202A

Many thanks to you my dear PaulMM,

and obviously North American D-222 was a preliminary concept, and they
later submitted D-235,D-264 & D-271 as a final proposals.

One of North American's MX-1764 proposals appears in Tony Buttler's article, North American's class of '54: North American Special Aviation Project June 1954, The Aviation Historian Issue No 45.

Looks like a scaled-down version of their single-tailed WS-302A proposal, with a single J79.
