According to Piotr Butowski (Lotnictwo Wojskowe Rosji) the V-60 project competed with the Mil Mi-36 for a scout / light helicopter requirement. It was originally based on the civil Ka-126, but the customer requirements for armament, equipment and speed greatly increased leading to the eventual Ka-60/62 design.

any more pictures of the other designs in image 068?

It's good to see that the Kamov Ka-60/62 isn't entirely dead - notice the model has a 5 bladed rotor?

The Ka-62 was in the news May 16, 2008:

Italian company to assemble helicopters in Russia

On Friday, the Russian aerospace holding company Oboronprom and Italy's helicopter giant AgustaWestland will announce a long-term helicopter-assembly project. But analysts said the project was politically motivated.
Oboronprom will sell the entire line of AgustaWestland helicopters worth $400 million euros in Russia in the next five years and will set up a national service center.
In 2010, AW-139 helicopters will be assembled at a plant owned by Russian helicopter giant Kamov in Lyubertsy outside Moscow.
Although an AW-139 helicopter costs about $8.5 million, Russian import duties increase its end price by 40%. The helicopter has a take-off weight of 6.4 metric tons and can carry up to 15 passengers or 2.8 metric tons of freight.
A source close to the talks said the partners had initially advocated equitable cooperation and did not want to relocate helicopter production to Russia.
According to the source, the holding company Russian Helicopters needs new technology and helicopter-service standards for marketing its products worldwide.
He said AgustaWestland wanted to enter the Russian market and had already signed contracts for 20 helicopters.
Vyacheslav Boguslayev, CEO of Ukrainian aircraft-engine manufacture Motor Sich, said the contract stipulated production of a prototype Kamov Ka-62 helicopter seating 16.
He said the AW-139 had a smaller load-carrying capacity and could not operate in Arctic areas.
"This shows that Russia has not yet formulated a clear helicopter industry policy," Boguslayev told the paper.
Oboronprom said the Ka-62 project required substantial investment, and that AgustaWestland would help launch joint production of a similar helicopter until the former model was upgraded.
In 1995, the Italian company and Kamov tried to develop the Ka-64 civilian helicopter but were forced to mothball the project because the Russian side stopped funding.
The politically motivated AW-139 helicopter-assembly project is sponsored by former Russian President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, a top manager at a Western aircraft company told the paper.

It remains to be seen if the Ka-60/62 ever enters production, since the supposed Indian order last year for 200 Ka-62s hasn't produced any visible results.

Nope. Ka-60 is RIP. Now more freshly thought and certification-friendly Ka-62 will fit both civil and military roles (yes, in spite of foreign Ardiden powerplant in the last case) - if military will want it at least.

Interestingly, there is no mention of its other medium-class development programme – the 6.5t Kamov Ka-62 – in the latest issue of its magazine.

The long-delayed first flight of the Turbomeca Ardiden 3G-powered rotorcraft was due to have finally taken place in 2015, but the latest deadline again seems to have been missed.

Finally maiden flight !

So I was wondering what the issues were with the KA-60. And have read quite a lot abou it. Yet am unable to ascertain what the issue was. Some places say there was a transmission problem, others say they couldn't afford to build it because of the parts being overseas. And I am yet to find out if it was completed or not, as in ready to be mass produced. Or still in development/

There is no domestic engine of suitable dimensionality. Work in this direction is underway, but there is no ready-made solution yet

The choice of French engines is due to the fact that at the time of the beginning of deep reengineering of the Ka-62, Russia did not have a power plant that would meet the modern requirements of a civilian helicopter in terms of noise level, fuel consumption and inter-repair resource. And the need for import substitution in the engine industry has become one of the factors of the start of work on the creation of a new VK-1600V turboshaft engine. In addition, future buyers should be able to choose a power plant to suit their requirements, and such variability enhances the competitive advantages of the Ka-62.
