In Finnish, but images have the main role. 400 pages, about A4 size, 485 photos. Profiles, 3-views.

Got mine. A big hardcover book with lots and lots of photos. Many photos have been seen before but this book reproduces them in better quality. In addition to Finnish squadrons, there's some pages on Bf 109 development and also the German Bf 109s that operated from Finland.

Actually the reproduction is slightly less good than in his previous squadron chronicles due to the latter's better paper and the fact that the photos were scanned with a slightly smaller size in nibd (squadron chronicles were exactly A4, this is some 10 % bigger).

I did not buy this new book as Stenman is a combat chronicler, not a analytical historian. Technical coverage is very, very poor. There is no performance analysis either. Nor handling is discussed in any detail.

True that Stenman isn't very interested in technical details. The little text that there is focuses on what happened in combat, and sometimes on how victories were accomplished. All from the point of view of the units and pilots. As said, this one is in Finnish only, so the words are not very useful to most anyway.

Stenman's squadron chronicles have more text, and fewer and smaller photos. The larger photos of this one work better for me.

one I have to order for my Finnish interests, im hoping it covers the G.8 and G.6AS cowling examples, both very litte documented in Finnish Ilmavoimat service :) I can already see an image I was previously unaware of showing the 'Midsummer races' aircraft marked 'C' (the others showing 'B' and 'D' being widely published)

kiitos, Joe

The 3-views include G8 and G6AS. There's a couple of photos with them too, but I don't think there's much cowling detail.

Perttime, you are apparently Finnish. Did you note my critique of the book on Flighforum?

Yes, I'm Finnish - but don't frequent Flighforum. I'd never get out of the house if I kept visiting all the interesting sites.
