Hi all,

I'm looking for infos about a very advanced Convair Design for a SST/Spaceplane from 1958 or 1962 I think.

It has a XB-70 look but more radical with a flat nose, small delta winged canards and a big delta wing with large vertical wingtips.

I think that this particular design was in competition with other companies such Lockheed, Marquardt... To name a few and scheduled for 1970.

This design was well illustrated in magazines at the time.

Does anyone known what I mean ?

Thanks for the help,

The caption makes it clear that this is speculative

Yes the caption but that time only seemed this, but who knows ?.

Sorry, I do not know what you mean.
In 1959 at a meeting of the Institute of Aeronautical Sciences in New York a number of papers were read on the subject of Supersonic Transports, looking at a range of issues such as operations, economics and military applications. One paper was presented by Sebold, who was the Vice-President (Engineering) at Convair, the subject was Commercial Air Transportation beyond the Subsonic Jets. The illustration was one he presented in that talk and, as the caption states, it is a view on what a Mach 3 civil transport may look like in the 1970s. That does not make it a project, just theoretical and speculative.

In some NASA reports, the same Project appeared as a real study Model for Convair,as I remember.

OK, find the report with evidence (weight, dimensions, engines, wind tunnel studies etc.) that it was more that just a piece of speculative artwork used in a presentation and I will be happy to be proved wrong.
