Hi,

the Grumman G-3 was a twin engined coast guard flying boat project of 1930,a sesquiplane
and powered by two engines mounted at the high-wing.

Perhaps you could give us a better reference, who is the author f this book, when waa it published.

I don't know why hesham's picture is of such low standard quality. Here's the one I have on my HD, saved from exactly the same source. I'm also attaching a photo of an original company model (source: Monografie Lotnicze 98 - Grumman J2F Duck) as well as the G-4 project (same source).

Given the date of the aircraft and its similarity in layout, etc., could this aircraft have been a competitor for the contract awarded the Consolidated XPY-1 (eventually P2Y)?

I have nothing tell me so, but there is a lot of coincidence here.
