Fo.143 Gnat mk2 was a Gnat with reheated Orpheus and a 6% thick wing.
Orpheus reheated 5,750lb.
Estimated at Mach 1.1 at 36,000ft
Possible AI.23 in revised nose.

By Jan '55 OR around this was being prepared. Estimated ISD 1957.
Folland had structural rig and wing built.
Yet it didn't happen.

What if it had?

Export and license to India, Yugoslavia....Finland?

Trainer obviates Anglo-French Supersonic Trainer.

Someone said there was a Gyron Junior option. Presumably of higher performance?

Gnat mkV with twin RB.153 was evolved into Mach 2.4 high altitude interceptor.

Further thoughts.....

If Gnat mk2 could meet Attack requirements it could take the place of the Hunter.
Potentially a Gnat mkV variant could take MRI Strike as a backup to NMBR.3?
