Giant wasps killing people in China, now found in Illinois

What is going on here? These obviously aren't normal wasps. They look like GMO wasps or something...almost qualify as aircraft they are so big. 1/4 inch stingers! This is going to keep me awake at night in cold sweats. Imagine these nesting in you're attic somewhere and buzzing around in you're house without warning. any insights? Are these a GMO weapon? Biblical judgement? Environmental change?

We have these in Japan too. If they come anywhere near you, stop, don't try and swat them, and just wait for them to get bored and leave. Anything else could get you killed.
