Apparently french had some plans for the future. If i'm not completely mistaken this guy here even seems to have some kind of rangefinder!

Here is a link to an incredibly interesting Frech site where there are plenty of original drawings of built as well as NOT-BUILT armoured vehicles designed by the AMX company pre-war and post-WW2.
