Hi
I'm looking for any information and/or references for
Go P14-02
Go P8-01
Go P20

I have the book Luftwaffe Secret Projects, Volume 3: Ground Attack & Special Purpose Aircraft by Dieter Herwig and Heinz Rode but the write up for these is quite 'thin'.

Any help would be truly appreciated.

Many thanks
Peter

Here... :)

Many thanks Justo.
As usual, invaluable help.

Was the construction method, all metal skin?
And what was the proposed armament?

Many thanks
P

Hi again.

Just started keylining the P14.

Any advice on the exhaust?
Does it have a shroud with gases exiting rearward or do the exhaust pipes just stick straight out of the fairing side?

Many thanks for any help.

Peter

Absolutely brilliant Justo.

Many thanks.

Will post progress samples.

Tonight's progress report.

Needs a lot more detail work.
Not sure about the rear glazing on the gun area?
Cheers
Peter

The Gotha P.8001 is very reminiscent of the PZL P.38 Wilk project of 1936 - 1938, and they are rather close dimensionally.
P.38 Wilk
Span: 11.05m
Length: 8.35 m

P.8001
Span: 11.00m
Length: 8.67 m

P.38 animation posted in the PWS & PZL Projects thread:

Hi
thanks Justo. The cross is just on, not in any final position. But your pic will give me no excuses for not positioning it correctly. ;)

And John, you are right, there do seem to be many similarities.
The P14, 'sort' of reminds me of the Anson.

Cheers
Peter

Sharkmouth?

I'm sure I can do one like that.
Many thanks for all the wonderful refs.

Any clues/ideas for serial numbers etc please?

Many thanks

Thanks Justo.

I am going to change the swastika...honest.
And I will need to re-do the crosses too.
There is a nice ladybird emblem on the ref you have posted. But it won't go with M8 NP.

More soon.
P
:)

A little more done.

Swastika and crosses now changed plus splinter camo.

Would the rudders be fabric skinned?

Many thanks.

I was wondering...

If the P14 had made it into service, would the two blade props have been replaced by three bladers, similar to the Hs 129?

Many thanks
Peter

Next progress report.

Need to do some more work on the rear gun position (red circle).
Probably take a closer look at the Bf 110 and Ju87 for ideas.

Many thanks
P

Done a little more and arrived at an interpretation of a hatch type thing
with open slot for the rear cockpit/gun.

Many thanks

Wow!
Awesome to watch the project unfold!
Justos reference library must be enormous!!
fantastic stuff!

Thanks Zerstorer.
I was hoping someone would say they actually enjoyed the blow-by-blow journey. ;)
I'm glad it's not a tedious exercise for some.
This way is massively helpful, to me at least, and with so much knowledge on site I'm very grateful to recieve such expert help.

End Violin SFX ;D

I enjoyed the 'play by play' too Flitzer.

Can't help thinking this aircraft would have been a bit underpowered.

It's nickname might have been 'Hurrikan's Frühstück'

Hi Nick
and thanks. Glad you enjoyed the progress reports.

It does look underpowered.
But it was to use the same powerplants as the Hs 129, so I imagine it would have benefitted from similar upgrades too.

I've been toying with adding 3-blade props on one version of the profile, in-line with the Hs 129 developments.

Many thanks and I've plenty more on the go ;D
Peter

Flitzer, I can't remember which of your Gotha projects where you had asked for an emblem from a Bf 110 desert unit, but I came across this one in German Aircraft Markings by KA Merrick.
