Pioneer--

Are you asking about the M4 series, i.e. any and all Sherman tanks, or specifically the M4 versus the M4A1, M4A2 etc?

Surely the Sherman was in production well into 1945, although by VE-Day the Army might have felt as though there were enough of them lying around...

Hi Apteryx

Any and all Sherman tanks thanks mate!

I don't have a lot of references, but there's an informative short history of the Sherman in this PDF file:

www.cmhweb.org/news/2005/c200506.pdf

A table therein states that the last Sherman produced was an M4A1(76), in July 1945. The M4A3 finished up before it, in April. Apparently the Russians were receiving M4A2s as late as June.
