Also from USA,

Filper Beta 100 :it was a tandem rotor machine with a two seat cabin and
pylon at the rear, and the engine with the forward pylon
in front.
,, Beta 300 :a version of Beta 200 with Allison 50-C18 turbine engine.
,, Beta 600 :a four seat version.

Hi Everyone!

I located some more information on Filper helicopters.
(Please bear with me, as I'm still having problems posting attachments of the proper size!) I'm still working to solve this problem, but until I get this squared-away, may I still post attachments?

Chuck

I have found this interesting Filper prototype and the corresponding unbuilt project in Air Progress, July 1966. Does anyone know anything about this project and its designation, if any?

Dear Boys and Girls, here are some articles in French that I've found on the odd-looking Filper Beta 200 helicopter. It isn't a "project" and it isn't "secret" as it obviously entered production at some stage. The articles come from Autumn 1966 issues of Aviation Magazine International......

I love a helo that looks different, and the Filpers certainly fit the bill... Wonder what forward visibility may have been, though, with the front rotor right in the way...

Thank you Stéphane; perhaps the lack of visibility was one reason why this type was not successful. Here is a drawing of the Filper Beta 300, a "project" which isn't "secret" and which looks like it would have offered better visibility......

The drawing comes from the 15th Februry 1967 issue of Aviation Magazine International......

I have regrouped all the posts about Filper helicopters (and NOT Fliper or Flipper !!!) into a single topic. This will make it easier for future searches.

Hi,

the Filper Beta-1000 was a project for two-seat high-speed helicopter,not tandem rotor
but was single rotor, and skids for landing.

Interesting find, but the article clearly states that it is the Copperfield Beta 1000, not a Filper product.
Apparently, Copperfield developed the Beta series even before Filper had any involvement, then took its baby back:

"The company then had the financial backing of Filper Corp., a canning equipment manufacturer (...)
"Filper withdrew from the effort and work halted in August 1968."

I just do not get the point of that design. Reducing visibility of the pilot over the frontal arc would seem to be a mistake.
