More left leaning criticisms incoming? Seem to be flowing liberally as of late.

I think what Michel Van is getting at with that post of Musk's is that there are reports that he is to receive a senior cabinet position in the new administration. It is even possible that he might wear two hats and also simultaneously serve as NASA's new Administrator (assuming that the post is not just simply elevated to a Cabinet one, as lobbied for by some for years or even decades).

Funnily enough, he did say that.

Elon Musk is a dickhead. That's non partisan he's just a rich boy who's lucked into more wealth. And then a lot less when he bought twitter.

They've talked about him being head of a government efficiency team, in which case, yeah, bring that sink, and the axe in. But I doubt he'd want to bother with NASA.

Boring Company is thought of as a lark, but he might want to invest in Petra. Petra uses gas to heat and break up rock...Warrant Buffet wants to have natural gas reserves and Musk might help with that.

Some diversification to push for methane advancement might be helpful in some wise.

The only positive thing from the Trump and Musk alliance might be the eventual cancellation of SLS. Trump and Musk might be republicans, they also want to drastically cut such obscene expenses as SLS. But of course Shelby's heirs still supporting SLS won't agree.
This will be a murderous fight, I tell you.

I really want to see if Trump and Musk can nuke the SLS into oblivion.

The article seems to be a bit hyperoptimistic, but the manned lunar landing by 2026 became a real possibility - if Elon managed to push for replacement of "Orion on SLS through Gateway" with simpler "Dragon-2 on F-H" scheme.

My prediction - Trump would really want to show a new lunar landing during his term, so he would motivate Elon to concentrate on this. The Gateway station, Orion and SLS would not be outright cancelled, but pushed down from priority list (maybe with exception of Orion), and efforts would be concentrated on certifying Falcon Heavy for manned flights with Dragon-2 - so the combination flight of HLS Starship and Dragon-2 with Lunar orbit docking could be performed by 2026-2027.

No and no.
He can't serve as the NASA administrator without divesting SpaceX.
There is no need for the NASA administrator to be Cabinet level. It is no different than NOAA or other agencies within cabinet departments .

SLS delivers components of the Gateway.

Gateway is not that important for landing peoples on Moon again. It could be replaced by directly docking the crewed craft with lunar module on Lunar orbit.
Gateway, SLS, Orion is complet useless
HLS can be resupply, refuel and manned by Starship in that lunar orbit !

Both meaningless. That eliminates European, Canadian and Japanese participation. Also ignores second Lander.

Yes, but it would took too much time to develope a manned version of orbtial Starship for planned Lunar landing in 2026-2027 timeframe. Ensuring the sufficient reliability of re-entry and landing would likely took several years. So for 2026-2027 landing, it would be simpler and cheaper to use the proven Dragon-2 spacecraft for crew transport from Earth to LLO and back to Earth. The Dragon-2 is already well-tested and deemed reliable, and it would likely require no more than a single automatic "proof of concept" mission to demonstrate the ability to safely return from the Moon.

Well, let's face it; the current Lunar program is overcomplicated and prone to delays due to such overcomplication.

Do you have a point or nah?
My point is, despite all his personal flaws (and he have a lot of them) Elon Musk is a genius. Not genius scientist or inventor; a genius industrialist, in the league of Edison, Ford and Stephenson. His talent is making extremely complex industrial processes run smoothly, turning innovative, cutting-edge technology into reliable mass-produced solutions. That's where he excels.

, while the first lunar missions would be performed with simplified "Dragon-2 & HLS" approach.
Nope, not going to happen nor is FH going to be human rated (Elon said that won't happen anyway, that is why "Dear moon" went from FH to Starship).

Not impossible—but such a night of long knives may cost them votes they need on other things down the road.

Goddard and Marshall could not be more different, but I can imagine the following conversation happening between two senators:

“Now if you don’t want your big orange killed, keep the orange in chief from axing our climate change sat. You have my back—and I’ll have yours…in return, I ‘ll have the folks in Pasadena understand that their probes go on your rockets alone.”

You KNOW something like that is going to go down…some kind of deal. Trust me, it won’t just be MSFC suffering arterial spray…a wounded beast is the most dangerous.

Kill SLS? Fine…and if Goddard wants more climate change this or that—they’ll bleed too.

Remember the Santorum Accuweather bill?

I see that being floated again.
