Very strong "Weebo" -vibes ("Flubber", starring Robin Williams, directed by Les Mayfield, Disney, 1997), so in a sense a quarter of a decade in the making at least. Have to look into this, mapping/navigation AI map seemed very Thrun/Norvig circa 2011.
