Last August I went in vacation in Calpe / Altea. South of Valencia on the coast: hence I twice passed through the now ravaged area.
We also went to a shopping mall in Alicante... very similar to the devastated one in Valencia, underground car park included.
So I'm shocked and sad for Spain. The present death toll is apalling.

Reminds me of the 11 March 2004 dark hours when terrorists blew trains killing 191. I had just started an ERASMUS student trip in Spain in February - Malaga, Andalucia, lovely place.
I barely knew my spanish room mates (true gentlemen) perhaps for a week - when the horror happened. I instantly turned into a spanish people, joining the spontaneous protests after the attacks. Still have chills thinking about it.
