Looks like a Miles Libellula design but with the main wing brought forward to mid fuselage and sharply swept.

Wasn't there info/art on this in an AAHS Journal article on the Ascender a few years back?

Yes Scott, there was a small image showing this as a cargo/passenger aircraft. I happen to know the gentleman who provided that image to the author so I guess I know who to talk to about additional info!

Thanks! Mark

Heck Scott, you've probably forgotten more about aircraft than I've ever known :)

Thanks for bring it up - would not have thought about checking there.

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Check the dates of the wind tunnel models - 1943 - best I can tell you. I do not have a top or front view but am working on that.

Enjoy the Day! Mark

The journal mentioned by Orion.. is:

AAHS-Fall 1996

The illustration on p.177 is provided by Fred Roos.
Caption:Model P-274 , a passenger/cargo design based on the configuration
concept of the XP-55.This design was pursued as far as windtunnel
evaluation circa March 1943.

Maybe this helps to find more..

It seems to be a jetpowered variant of the P-274...?
