OK my dear Pioneer,

I'll do my best.

Hesham,

the Boeing drawing in your post # 41 come from the
Warbird Tech volume about the Lockheed Starlifter.

From Page 7 to be precise. ;)

Yes my dear Lark,

and I had this book before,as a PDF file, and unfortunately,I deleted it wrong from about 3
weeks ago.

After realizing I actually HAD that PDF file myself, I was faced with two choices: either posting the original scan in full size (thus infringing on copyright) or reworking the document so that not only it became an original work but could also be posted in full size. I elected to do the latter, and so here is a three-view of the Boeing Model 731 for your enjoyment.

Please note that I didn't try to restore symmetry in the plan as I sometimes do (when I flip some parts of the drawing horizontally) since the scan was average and I didn't always know which of the two sides was the most accurate one, in terms of wing geometry notably.

Finally, you may have attempted to find the Model 731 on the web and found a lot of "noise". Indeed, common practice dictates to designate the Boeing 737-100 as the Boeing 731, the 737-200 as the 732 and so forth. I haven't been able to determine if this is actually endorsed by Boeing or only a habit of the airlines, but it's all over now for all Boeing airliners.

Great find. We know about three of four 476L contenders now: Boeing Model 731, Douglas Model 2085 and of course the Lockheed Starlifter . Flight, 23.03.1961 mentions Convair as fourth competitor.

Has anyone info on their design?

Ye gods Facebook sucks.

Can anyone point out just *how* to access that group? I found a link to it:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/34366349783/

But when I try to open it, it redirects to a Facebook signin page, and when I sign in, it takes me to my *own* FB page.

I've seen this material in person on Boeing's design. Such a classic example of Mid-Century Modern style with the layouts, palette and fonts used and it has beautiful embossed hardcover. A friend collects this stuff, the next time I'm in Seattle visiting him (we're collaborating on a book) I'll get better pictures.

Hi, is your friend named Tom by any chance?

I see the influence of the Boeing 707 tail fin applied to the Model 731.

Yes, you know Tom as well? I was just up there the week prior to Christmas as we are working on some projects together.
