A bit of artwork from Bell, circa first half of the 1960's. Depicts an SST vaguely along the lines of the B-70, with dropped wingtips for compression lift, but with 8 turbojets. The turbojets could tilt up to provide vertical thrust. No further data... may well *not* have been a fully serious design.

A higher rez version of the art is HERE.

Re: Bell VSTOL SST

If you're gonna steal someone's scan, have the decency to photoshop out their logo

Re: Bell VSTOL SST

What may be especially sad: this scan as posted on my blog was reduced from the full-rez to 1400 pixels wide. At 300 DPI, that's only 4.6 inches. Which means the 8.5X11 print the hypothetical buyer is going to receive will be pretty low-rez. Dunno if it'll be cropped to ditch the "aerospaceprojectsreview.com" off the bottom, but if it's legible to the buyer, this sorta fraks with the brand...

Sorry, I couldn't resist ...

From Aeroplane 1959,

it was a 100-passenger VTOL SST.
