OK. That sounds like how lawyers tell clients to answer hostile deposition questions.

Please tell me what was the book or magazine that was the source of the 3 photos related to the D190 at the bottom of page 2 of this topic? I did not see a reference in that entry or the subsequent ones for the source. If it was there and I missed it, I apologize.

Thank you.

Or how an engineer accurately answers an unambiguously phrased yes-or-no question...

The first two come from "Rescue From the Air and in Space" by Sparks. The third one comes from a Bell paper on VTOL, nothing more of D190 value in it than that.

Thank you very much. The Sparks book looked interesting. I'm trying to remember if I saw it as a kid. (Did anyone else love to get lost in the books at the library for hours wondering about the weird and wonderful planes there?)

50 years later the D2022 and D2064 series still look like they're from the future.

A full-scale mockup (the photo is labeled "190.B" but I cannot say for sure if that's supposed to be the designation of that proposal).

Two views of the D190 along with several other designs. This is everything from this folder from Wright U archives.

This was also in the above folder but is about the rotor size needed for a NUCLEAR POWERED HELICOPTER

Huh. The artwork for a Bell nuclear powered helicopter has been floating around forever; this is the first time I've seen evidence of actual engineering work on it. Any chance there were vehicle diagrams?

From, Американские самолеты вертикального взлета,

a clearer view with caption;

the Bell firm has also developed a number of projects of light multipurpose VTOL with two propellers in the annular channels at the ends of the wing for the Air Force, one of which Bell D.190 was built in the form of a mock-up, but did not receive development.

What appears to be a full scale mockup of the D190
, behind the 'F-109' mockup. Bell sure did a lot of interesting things.
