This torpedo, equipped with a RASAPD (Re-programmable Advanced Sonar and Passive Detection) 2 allows it to differentiate between friendly and enemy ships as well as an advanced propulsion engine giving it a fairly substantial firing distance (but no figure is currently known except for version 701). This torpedo equips the F-16 MLU of the Belgian Air Force and thus gives it an anti-ship capability
Following the crisis in the Black Sea, the Belgian Air Force has greatly increased its Defense budget. Improvement of BVT-601 was observed in the Baltic states.
The BVT 701 is an improved version that incorporates the new Porpoise technology . By imitating the behavior of mammals, it scrambles enemy self-defense systems, making it particularly feared, but leaves visible traces on the surface of the water. The functional distance of use is 40 nautical miles for a speed of 60 knots. Antennas visible on the rear of the weapon system suggest the possibility of third-party guidance. It has a contact and proximity detonator as well as a void counter (“void sensing fuze”) .

Do anyone have additional information about this torpedo?, the only source I can find is this article https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/BVT_601

I'm quite sure it's fiction. The so-called test image is from RIMPAC 2012 and shows the effects of a Canadian submarine launched torpedo.

Sounds very fishy at best. "Les Lacs de l'eau d'Heure" (largest lakes in Belgium), described as the test center for the torpedoes, are a leisure and touristic park...

Sounds like it would be perfect for a skit in Down Periscope 2! Imitating the behaviour of mammals? Cue a shot of a "sonar screen" with an obvious outline of a torpedo dry-humping the outline of a whale. "Phew, it's not a torpedo!"

On a more serious note, the torpedo's notional water entry speed having been dropped from a F-16 is nearly as amusing! Snake Eye, parachute or ballute?

"Les Lacs de l'eau d'Heure"
Never heard before, but I can assure the entire name sounds like a play on word

L'eau d'heure = the water hour
Sounds like
L'odeur = the smell

No, it's a real place.

There's so much in this that is nonsensical -- a torpedo with a void-counting fuze, for example. The chart leveled "jamming efficiency" which is actually about drag reduction techniques. Etc. It's really quite an obvious fake.

I see that the article has been around for quite a while. Whatifmodelers discussed it in 2009 but no one seems to have realized that it was a fake then. And it crops up a couple of other places as well. It feels like an April 1 joke that got loose and no one noticed.

WTF ?!

FN Herstal build Anti Ship missile ?!

"Les Lacs de l'eau d'Heure" is a reservoir and holiday resort in Belgium
you not test Military hardware while civilians are allover the place !

Lombardsijde has no Military Installation any more, either Testing grounds

BVT-601 is designation of a TEE locomotive

This Total Fake like Wikipdia Article about Metro Verviers...

Yep ideally a global mod should move this to the Theoretical Concepts section.

done
If confirmation turns up, that it actually was a real project, we can bring it back to the original section again, of course.

You need a sizable variable geometry capable plane to release a torp at low speeds to keep it from breaking apart, one would imagine.

Good for average missions-but let's say there are supercav' munitions. You might need an F-14 to get ahead of it faster than typical ASW offerings. Far fetched? Maybe.
