This engine is briefly described in American Secret Projects Volume 2: US Airlifters 1941-1962 as an alternative powerplant, "offered on the understanding that it was a "paper" engine and would not be available in time for the airframe." There is also a Comparative installation diagram showing both the TF33 that was actually selected, and the GE MF239 C-3 itself.

Is there anymore information on this engine and it's development?

Air Force/Space Digest (predecessor to Air Force Magazine), April 1961, page 97, says that the MF329C-3 was a growth version of the commercial CJ805-23. Other than saying that the MF329C-3 was offered for MATS SS467, the only other info was that it was to develop 23,800 lbf for takeoff.

Aviation_Week, August 8, 1960, says 22,000 lb class.

GE Flight Propulsion Division prepared a brochure specifically on the MF239: GED-5005, MF239C Aft Turbofan Power.

Attached is a schematic comparing Lockheed 476L (future C-141) engine installations.
