Ryusei-kai(流星改) is a proposal which replaces the Nakajima HA45 honor engine (NK9) of a Ryusei to Mitsubishi Ha 43 engine (MK9), and did not progress from the stage of the initial plan.
All the mass-produced Ryusei were B7A1 (tentative-name Ryusei).
The opinion that "the mass production model Ryusei was weight decreased and wing re-designed Ryusei -Kai B7A2" was mistake.
Chief designer Ozaki said that large-scale re-design of the Ryusei was not carried out. 110 Ryusei were made.
The IJA treated Ryusei as a experimental aircraft untill the end of the war.
Ryusei used as a land base bomber (almost used as a special attack aircraft), because there were no operatable aircraft carrier in Japan at the end stage of the war. Over weight for carrier use of Ryusei was no ploblem at the day.
