I hope that after the Quail was retired it wasn't scrapped because would've a terrible waste as since there were designed to mimimic the radar signature of a B-52 they would've made perfect targets for SAM and AAM tests along with being a target for live fire missile target practice.
 
Interesting info on the Quail but it seems to be in the wrong thread, this thread was originally about Soviet decoy missiles...

Worry not about its life in the scrap yard. Today there are decoys which mimic the radar signature and that are carried in much larger quantities. FWIW, I helped integrate the MALD onto the BUFF.

It's just that when the Quail was retired in the mid-70s it would've made a perfect target drone for testing new surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles along with being used in target practice with live missiles.
 
While the ADM-20 was clearly obsolete by the mid 1970s I don't know why they weren't expended as missile targets as they would've been perfect and it would've saved the DoD the costs of de-militarising them.
