Is it me or are nearly all the imgur images no longer working. Example thread https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,23377.135.html - last few pages are just lots of black boxes with a message about the image no longer being available.

Looking into IMGUR page gave me this

We allow hotlinking on forums, but hotlinked images cannot be used as content for a website, including blog posts, avatars, site elements, and advertising.

what is much better as the $400 ransom Photobucket demands for there Victims...

While this definitely sucks, if you really want / need to see those images, you can work around it like so:

Get the url of the image you want to see - at the bottom of the thread that cover_shores linked, the first image takes us to:

https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimgur.com%2F0EjB6OE.jpg&hash=bd115f281e07b1a1c033e1c2009cb560

Now extract the part I've coloured red; the part you need starts with "imgur.com" and ends with ".jpg" (or it might end with ".png" or ".gif", etc; just the format of the image):

imgur.com%2F0EjB6OE.jpg

The part that's coloured green is another way of representing the forward-slash symbol: /
Replace that "%2F" with a forward slash so that the url reads:

imgur.com/0EjB6OE.jpg

Copy-paste that into your browser and you'll get taken to the image.

Re: 3rd party images not working? (IMGUR etc) - Fix information

This is because the forum is using HTTPS (secure HTTP) now. If the images in the page are offsite, and HTTP (not secure), browsers will complain about mixed secure / insecure content. To get around this, the forum is downloading the insecure picture then sending it to you via HTTPS securely ("proxying").

This is falling foul of IMGUR's rules above.

Simple fix: use https:// in links instead of http://

Other fix: upload to forum as attachments.
