I have a note I made long ago, that attempts were made to upgrade the mediocre performance of the Luftwaffe's 2 cm MG-FF cannon by using ammunition loaded to a c.20% higher pressure, which in conjunction with a c.50% longer barrel increased the muzzle velocity from around 600 to 820 m/s. Weight went up to 32 kg. This only reached the prototype stage.
