His book "Of Struggle and Flight: The History of Latvian Aviation" is a great source for this and more. Thanks very much for this topic, I'd forgotten this subject (all too often nowadays) and appreciate the jump start!!

Thanks hesham. Latvian Aviation mentions that, in 1942, Herberts Runka was building a "two-seater, high wing monoplane with an enclosed cabin" in a workshop near the Riga Cathedral. That "high wing" could easily be interpreted as your "monoplan parasol" :D

Thank you my dear Apophenia, and we can add it to the Irbitis list.

Thanks hesham. I'm not sure how we would designate Runka's cabin parasol. Irbitis' I-10 is more than a little confusing.

In the opening post of this thread, Maveric illustrated an unbuilt open 2-seat parasol - the I.10 Kaija II (Gull II). Your 2017 Wikipedia link in the designation section lists a I-10 Vanags (Hawk) built by Valsts Daugavpils Arodskola in 1935 (that date sounding about right).

Perhaps Valsts Daugavpils Arodskola intended to construct an I-10 Vanags for Latvijas Aeroklubs in 1935 but never got around to it - Maveric's unbuilt open parasol. Then, Herberts Runka began construction of an I-10 in 1942 - which he may (or may not) have completed in 1944.

Maybe your are right my dear Apophenia, but need to check.

I-6 and I-7

They look the same. What's the difference?

The color. That's important.

Thank you Justo! The color profiles I know already, the I-5 info is new to me :) I think three views of the I6 and I-7 will be hard to find... I am looking for several years already... no luck yet...
