Hi to everyone interested.

I have followed you past links covering the HP Victor and HP-99 with great curiosity.

I'm trying to find if there is any visual reference on how the Victor carried the various airdrop nuclear weapons. My guess is that the Blue Danube was an older Valiant era device, replaced by the later smaller Red Beard - or Red Snow models. So many code names I keep uncovering..

Did any Victors carry such devices - or was the standoff Blue Steel the main designated device. I see from your links that 4 or was it 2 US skybolts were a planned under wing addition.

Out of interest - There is a CGI model of the Handley Page Victor underway at: http://www.milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=512
The team at Milviz have already built a detailed version of a Vulcan B2 http://www.milviz.com/modeldetail.php?type=2&id=VulcanB2

This model is proposed to represent the Victor in 3 versions, The K2 Tanker as well as a “generic” Victor in white anti flash and one in later RAF camouflage.
The modellers credit using the plans from http://www.albentley-drawings.com/handley_page.htm

One other request. I have seen some great profile illustrations, but does anyone have any colour photographs of the early Victor prototypes?

I hope to modify the Victor model when completed with some Blue Steel and Skybolt versions or even re-work a crew escape capsule

+ has anyone read this account of the Blue Steel testing incident in Australia?
http://www.jsaxon.org/bluesteel/books/victorin.htm
Seems that post incident, it left 2 big "wrinkles" in the top wing surface of XL-161 above the intakes, running back for about 4 ft.

Again regards to all

Hi,
Not that I'm getting at any "secret project" score (yet) But I managed to find these colour reproductions from Roger R Brooks 2 volume books on the Victor.
The first shot is WB771 in display colours;
( Was it a Black fuselage or a very dark blue colour? )
Unfortunately 771 suffered a fatal tail flutter and separation the top tail from the fin during a low level high speed pass.

These other shots - all from Roger's books are of WB775 in what looks to be a pale blue RAF livery.
Lastly - I'm looking to model some of the earlier B1 Victor tails - (last shot). all have a distinctly simplified tail

The earlier prototypes carried a slim ram air inlet on the tail root.
The B2/K2 wing models built so far, have the return of a larger ram air tail hump along with 2 other tail fuselage mounted snorkel intakes.
Any suggestions on the history of the tail variations?.
I Will keep you posted as the paint jobs proceeds.

Maybe I can modify the model more dramatically and render a HP-111C transport version.

Many thanks

Its a CGI model thats still to get its texture applied, It's probably the most detailed Victor CGI model built so far. All the credit must go to Milviz and the plans supplied by Arthur Bentley.

Thanks for the skybolt reference. appreciate the youtube clips you added.
I'll have a go at adding a 4 skybolt armed Victor some time.
The skbold solid fuel must have been a lot easier to handle than the Hydrogen peroxide / kerosene mix
that Blue Steel used

More texture work from www.milviz.com on the basic Victor colours at:

Some of the Gulf War nose art should not be on the earlier Euro Cold War comoflage
Once the Model is out in all 3 liveries, I'd like to tinker with the model and do a stretched 1954 proposed Victor 111 or the odd looking 1956 proposed transonic Victor B phase 4, not sure on what was planned for the cabin, all I have is the 2009 Aerofax Phil Butler & Tony Buttler publication model picture to go from, any help would be welcome, especially any other Handley variations that never made it into production

Regards Z
