Well, Scott, sorry for the error in the drawings of the A-150 in APR Vol.5, N°4 about
the Soviet seaplane jet bombers. In the side view of the landing configuration the lift
engine doors were closed, in the in-flight configuration they were open ... :-[

I've always wondered just what purpose the designers had in mind for these things!

From the cutaway picture I am guessing it was designed to be a missile carrier rather like the Tu-22Ms which were dedicated with anti-ship duties.

Delta wing aircraft often have relatively high pitch attitudes when taking off and landing. I wonder how this aircraft would deal with that.

"I wonder how this aircraft would deal with that."

With its lift engines and the nozzles of the cruise engines, which would have
been tiltable up to 65° downwards.

Oops ! Well, I cleaned up my Photobucket account and didn't remember, that
the drawing still was linked, sorry (.. and a good example, how unreliabel this
method actually is !)
But I think, it was just the animated Gif-file, with the A-150 taking off, more or less
just a joke. If I find it again on my HD, I'll put it back. In the meantime, here's the
drawing from the APR, with the mentioned error fixed.
