Hi,

the early design for Mil Mi-6 was VM-6,it was a compound helicopter.

Thank you for posting.
amazing no compound helio developments from Mil as of late.

Same model, but with contradictory statement by Yefim Gordon and
Dmitriy Komissarov in their book "Mil' Mi-6/-26: Heavy-Lift Helicopters"
(via Google books )

I see no contradiction in there except that the thrust engines were maybe additional small turboprops.

I suppose the thing at the nose is no gun, but either a retracted telescopic refuelling probe or a pitot sensor (the latter would fit the period better).

Thank you my dear Jemiba,

maybe this one was not the early design,as I know it was powered by one engine.

Compound was two engined according to official 2007 MVZ history publication.

Yes my dear Flateric,

but I spoke about very earlier VM-6 of 1952.

Hesham, once more, and again, and again - READ something BEFORE you post something STATING something.
You are posting pic of compound twin engine VM-6 and saying it was single-engined earlier version. IT WAS NOT.

Darn. Have you read the text from Gordon or not?

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT CHANGE IN REQUIREMENTS (MAX PAYLOAD INCREASE +50%, SPEED UP TO 400 KM/H) LEAD TO initial project GROWTH IN SIZE, ADDITION_OF_THE_SECOND_ENGINE AND THEN _OPTIONAL_WINGS_AND PROPULSORS_ TO REACH REQUIRED SPEED, MAKING VM-6 AN COMPOUND? DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THERE _WERE_NOT_ SINGLE ENGINE COMPOUND VM-6?

Yes my dear,

so I said maybe in this site they spoke about anther one,and not this compound one,OK.
