Following on from the CRW thread which mentions the AH-80 from the UbiSoft Tom Clancy game, here's the AH-88 Hellhound from the anime movie, 'Patlabor 2' with a LHX type anti-torque rotor system.

Designed by mecha designer (or concept artist in Western terms) Yutaka Izubuchi.

Some other interesting designs are collected in the artbook/mook 'Mamoru Oshii/Mecha-Philia' and features designs by Yutaka as well as Takeuchi Atsushi such as

I remember reading a paperback maybe in the early - mid '90s titled "Hellhound", only it was supposed to be a new Mil attack helo. No pics, but it had a description & all I recall is a fenestron tail rotor & cabin to carry troops.

The AH-88 Hellhound always struck me as more of a Russian design that Kawasaki might have built for the JSDF under license from the Mil Design Bureau. ;D I could see the Hellhound flying with the Mil Mi-24 "Hind."
