in this report they mention the Hiller Model-1031,and I don't know if it was derivative
of it or not ?

The designation "Model 1031" applied to all the successive variants of the Army's VZ-1E Pawnee flying platform for single soldier transport.

I don't believe it applied to the numerous multi-duct platform projects that Hiller designed after that.

Before I forget - thank you for posting the DTIC paper about the flying cranes. Very interesting read (well, it is to me.... ;) ).

Do I read the drawings correctly? Is there a propeller at the rear of both the 3 and 4 fan versions? If there is, one presumes it's to provide longitudinal thrust without tilting the whole airframe?

Thanks again.

A real Hiller project, yes, absolutely. Here are variants of the same artwork:

Hi,

when I saw this drawing to that helicopter before,I thought it was a
hypothetical design, but it was not, here is a report about it with various
ducted-fan Projects.

I hope someone can make the drawing No.6 clear.
