Boulton Paul P.80 Superstrand project : anyone know more about this project ?
I am looking more technical data about it , but for now i haven't found any other informations except:
1) 2 engines with 700 HP
( i have insert a modified image of Overstrand , without carriage : a probably profile of Superstand ),
surely project was abandoned ,probably because as project was already obsolete and there was not great difference about his performance !
ps: there are my suppositions !

Hi,

I have a little more information about the Superstrand. This comes from a little book called "The Aircraft Calendar" , written by Eric Sargent and published by Sampson Low, Marston & Co. Ltd., in October 1938. The book lists all (?) the aircraft in the world country by country, by manufacturer. Boulton Paul are in the British Empire Section on page 6. Four aircraft are listed, the Overstrand, Sidestrand, Superstrand and the P.71A a smaller 2 engined commercial biplane. The information supplied is fairly limited, and what there is, is slightly different from what you have already.

Sidestrand Dimensions

Engines 2 x 700HP Bristol Pegasus
Max. Speed 193 MPH
Range 1,060 miles
Wing Span - 80 1/2 feet
Length - 45 1/2 feet
Seats - 4
Weight Loaded - 17,050lbs

I find the weight loaded figure to be of interest as although dimensionally the Sidestrand was only marginally larger than the its predecessors it had a much greater loaded weight. the Sidestrand being 10,197lbs, and the Overstrand 12,000lbs..

I hope that this is of some interest.
