Most of you did not know Dr. Michael "Mike" Scully. I had the great privilege to know him. Mike worked tirelessly behind the scenes as a member of the U.S. Army's Flight Dynamics team at Moffett Field in California. Mike was there working on all of the successful Army helicopter programs and USMC as well. Mike is one of the few who within the Army put tilt rotors on the map as a new way of doing VTOL. He was a quiet man with infinite patience, especially with young men with wonderful ideas that defied physics. He was happy not to be in the spotlight, but travelled tirelessly to speak with senior officials about the good and bad of rotorcraft programs. I believe it will be very hard to find someone to step into his shoes.

I shall miss him.
