US Army - Lockheed Martin Long Range Precision Fires (LRPF)

Another new player offering significant efficiency improvements in solid rocket fuel. Their website says their solid fuel propellant might improve an ATACMS range from 300km to 430km. They are still in development phase but almost certainly getting attention from the big primes.

Agree with the ending 500km is meaningless in the Pacific Theater there’s a real need for a heavy payload IRBM in the 3500 km class missile.

Still think you could park a converted LHA to carry dozens of C4 sized missiles or the proposed Forward Based Intermediate Range Strike Missile about 3500km from China and go “high value target hunting” with HBGVs ;)

"The most conservative performance estimates were in a January 3, 2003 letter from Pratt & Whitney's Manger for Hypersonic Programs to USNFSA Executive Director Dr. William L. Stearman which stated: "Pratt & Whitney's initial analysis of a scramjet-powered 16-inch gun-launched projectile (Hyper Shell) indicates that a range of approximately 400nm [460 miles], a time to target of 9 minutes [Mach 5.3], and an impact velocity of 2800 feet per second is feasible." Ranjets are also an option.

Not sure if this is rectangle barrel or round. Sandia has a round barrel EMRG patent.

Been looking for that picture on the right forEVER. (Used to have a magazine that picture showed up in.) I think this is related to it:

It was from the AFRL page ages ago. 3000lbs, 20MW. The snippet said it was SDI related.

The diameter on the left could support launching a redesigned KKV that is if the KKV could withstand the g's, Contractor accountaility again.

What the Army's 1000mile gun could look like:eek:
Airfoil Hybrid Gun (AHG)

Transformers. The existence of those guns was apparently classified because, of course, nobody could possibly have noticed them as the ship was sailing down the Suez.

It's looking to be a lot smaller than the ATCMS warhead but then that was to be expected at 800km range and 2 missiles per HIMARS (4 per M270 MLRS).

What is the exact speed of an atacms missile? Will the PRSM fly above the mach 5?

What is that black missile? Older configuration?
I understood the black missile behind her to be the new PRISM missile unless I missed something. The smaller one is GMLRS but I heard something about a 160km range replacement for that too. So an M270 MLRS will carry 4x800km or 12x160km missiles.

If it reaches out to 800km it'll likely be well over that. The Iskander-M is Mach 5.9 at 500km range, the first DF-15 was Mach 6 at 600km range and Pershing I was Mach 8 at 740km range. But then PRISM isn't purely ballistic. But it's still likely to be more like Mach 6-7.

And Atacms speed? How fast is it?
