So recently iv'e been digging around the many planes the Swedish air force ordered before the war. Several hundred planes of several types where ordered and payed for during the years before the war. But due to the German offensive in Europe, the embargo by the US placed on Sweden and the impossible trade routes from Japan only 60 planes of the Seversky P-35A (J 9) came to Sweden of all types that where bought and ordered before the war. Sweden was thus forced to buy planes from Axis Italy (Re.2000 (J 11) and Ca.313 (B 16)) and to develop their own planes.

The plane which i am most interested in at the moment is the Swedish variant of the Breguet Bre 693 called the Bre 694 with the Swedish designation being S 10 (S for spaning, Eng: recon).

(From http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/swedish-air-force-reconnaissance-part-1-ordered-but-not-delivered/)
The order for 12 Machines was placed in June 1938 and delivery was planed to start in April 1939. The production was delayed and when war broke out the French government canceled the Swedish contract. The Swedish adaptation workers who had been busy installing Swedish equipment had to remove all their work and return to Sweden.

So according to this text there where planes being built or prepared in France. Does anyone have any documents on this variant? What was its armament supposed to be? I haven't been able to locate any documents about it in the Swedish archive yet, although iv'e only been there looking for it once but it would be nice to see the french part of the project too?

Then there is something wrong. It was Belgium that was gonna produce it under license. ASJA, Götaverken and AFF-Saab couldnt produce any more license planes at that time as they where all working on proposals for the P8 (which became the Saab 18) at that time.

hi Blockhaj

We are all here to discuss and discover so no need to correct old posts unless its an OP. ;D

Note that first flight was made on March 28 1940 when the Swedes hoped for... 1939. Typical huge delays that got France losing WWII in 10 days (10 May 1940 - 20 May 1940)

Interesting question about Swedish-supplied armaments for the Bre 694. The French MAC 1934s would have been replaced by 8mm ksp m/22 and ksp m/22R Brownings. But what about the HS.404?

One of the Fokker G.1 variants considered was supposed to have "Bofors 20 mm" guns ... but what does that mean? Does that refer to an aircraft version of the Bofors m/40?

Ye the gunner would have a 8 mm ksp m/22-37r but the frontal armament is a big question. For example the swedish Fokker G.1 recon plane the s 13, which was the replacement for the breguet s 10, was to have 2x 8 mm ksp m/22 and 2x 13,2 mm m/39 in the nose and the bomber variant, the b 26. was to have 4x 13,2 mm m/39 in the nose. As for the 20 mm Bofors, it was trialed as an airplane cannon already in 1937 but it has really limited ammunition and was generally just bad.

Possibly the Madsen 23mm cannon?

The madsen 23 mm was apparently tested by the SAF around 1938 but it was rejected for unknown reasons. But it was defiantly not planned for the S 10.
