I had a random moment of wondering over lunch. Would a Hellfire missile fired from, say, an MH-60R/S punch through a submarine hull that's gone awash, like starting a crash dive? How much water would have to be over the hull before your missile became ineffective?
 
Double hulls will prove this attack ineffective most times.
 
OK, but I'm more wondering about how much penetration through water you can get before the missile is rendered ineffective? Call it an attack on a swimmer delivery vehicle and not an SSBN.
 
That all depends on what kind & sensitivity of the fuse. How soon after it hits water will it detonate is the main issue.
