All very well spending a lot of money on rebuilding old tanks but why are shot traps still being designed into them?

What I find strange: why the M60's got such an upgrade, and not the Leopard 2's?

Modern armor doesn't work like that. HEAT doesn't deflect and APFSDS doesn't really either; a long-rod is likely to snap if it ricochets.

I suspect that they need them more? They also have more of them.

IIRC, when Turkey ordered the Sabra upgrade from Israel Military Industries in the early 2000s, the German government had not yet approved the sale of Leo2s to Turkey.
