Hi

On the International Hydrofoil society I found the following concept: "Connectorless Seatrain for High Speed, High Payload, and Austere Port Access". I attach the link below.

http://168.144.200.155/01_Mtg_Pres%20dnloads/090122%20meeting/Karafiath%20Connectorless%20Seatrain%20IHS%20Presentation%20.pdf

and a related one: The SES - sea train

they appear to be related or applicable to sea basing and are conceptual studies

Very interesting, thanks. Have any such designs every been used for oceangoing freighters or landing craft in actual practice?

Hi

I guess there are no practical application of the sea train yet.

Articulated tug barges have already reached the stage of transoceanic operations, including to transport supplies to overseas bases for the military
(see link: https://magazines.marinelink.com/Magazines/MarineNews/201309/content/what-future-hold-211288
But these are slow two unit vessels.

This said I have found another “sea train concept”. I add the link to the two papers

Why would you say there is no practical applications yet.?

I am not an expert in the field. The only reason is that after a search on the internet I could only find research/experimental papers on this concept. This is why I think it has not yet seen practical applications.
