Hi!
Me109/209/p.1091 stufe Ⅱ with DB628 engine.
DB628 had two stage supercharger. Low presssure(the first stage) supercharger was located behind the propeller and high pressure(the second stage) supercharger was located rear side of the engine. You can see a aftercooler rear bottom of the engine.
Also you can see the cover for piping between Low pressure supercharger and high pressure supercharger in these aircraft side view drawing.
Last drawing shows low pressure supercharger drive mechanism patent drawing.
Development of DB628 engine was cancelled.

Great and exciting drawing as usual!!! :D
Justo-san, how do you think about this very surprising and interesting DB624 engine?
I imagine that Daimler Benz must be appealed this engine for Messerschmitt high altitude fighter or high altitude recon/bomber.
This engine had mechanical drive(Valkan coupling drive?) superchargers at both side of the engine as the first and the second stage supercharger, and also had turbo charger as the third stage supercharger at the bottom of the engine.
Intercoolers were located exit of the first stage supercharger and exit of the second stage supercharger.
Unbelievable layout. B)

The information on the DB 624 is very rare. In my opinion, this engine was designed to power the Henschel Hs 130 D

Yes Sgeorges

Ha, really? No. I've got a couple. So does whoever wrote that piece on the Me 309 for Klassiker der Luftfahrt. The drawing they've used is from the same report. Here's a couple of pages from it. To be fair, that drawing you've shown is pretty accurate.

This 109g has been posted on Luftwaffe experten and lrg, but no one is quite sure what it is. The fairings are probably for canons, maybe a test for the K. But given the length of the fairings and size of the opening, is a recoilles cannon or some other weapon a possibility?

My question would be 'Given the position of the trees how did that aeroplane get there?'

Super fast growing trees. Or super smart plane parking, reminds how difficult it is to park some gliders in a hangar.

Yep, this one is a Bf 109 F-2 armed with eight EG - RZ 65 launchers, tested by E-Stelle Tarnewitz in early 1943. The launchers were aimed at 500 m distance (although shooting from up to 1000 m was to be practised with them) and the rockets could be launched in one or two salvoes.

From the pure look of that thing yes. At least the front gunner would have had a good chance to rip off his own props !
But I think, especially in the case of German late WW II projects, we have to consider, that there were lots of ideas, put on
paper by people, just trying to do their best for the final victory. And those ideas not necessarily always had a useful substance,
but were forwarded nevertheless, on official paper, so becoming "real" projects, when found later !

Jemiba said:

Jens, I suspect you just mis-spelt "...to do their best to buttress up anything to NOT go to the East front."
And those ideas not necessarily always had a useful substance, but were forwarded nevertheless, on official paper, so becoming "real" projects, when found later !
Yes, you point out one of the key limits of the researchers' methods in that era.

I have seen many suggest that most of the later projects of all kinds were a method of protecting as many workers from conscription for as long as possible. Considering how long Germany was on it's knee's it is what I would do in their shoes.
