From Putnam's 'Blackburn', page 344 :-

"The nose...was exceptionally clean aerodynamically because the radiator had been divided [into two] and banished [moved] to two aluminium compartments with vertical blade-type shutters under each wing root."

These shutters can't really be seen in any of the picture or drawings, but the area outlined in the image below might show them.

cheers,
Robin.

They appear to be visible in the advertisement in the post above and the photo below it, just inboard of the undercarriage. No idea why they are missing from the 3-view

Well spotted! I had mis-interpreted the written description to imply a similar arrangement to World War I german fighters, with the radiator flush within the wing, and surface shutters. Strange that they do not appear on the 3 view . . . maybe the artist drew it by adapting a Ripon 3 view . . .

cheers.
Robin.

It is easy to leave things out when drawing three-views--and fairly common.

The radiator fairings are visible on the front three-quarter- and side-view photos of the Buzzard-powered airplanes. In the in-flight view, where the airplane appears to be powered by a Napier Lion, the shadows presumably hide them..
