In 2004 BBC Ulster broadcast a programme about the Short Skyvan titled "The Flying Shoebox" I did not see this programme and it does not appear to be available on iPlayer or Youtube but I understand that it included an interview with a man planning to fit a Skyvan with floats who had got as far as making water tank tests. Can anyone provide further information on that project?

Short PD.36 (Skyvan floatplane) ref. Flight International, 19 May 1966

Seeing this pic of the Skyvan on floats reminded me that Saro had looked at floatplane conversions of the HDM.106, a type which is considered as a step towards to Skyvan!

It would have been early in the Skyvan's development I think, notice it has Astazou engines which were the second engine installation before they eventually settled on Garrett engines

No floats but a Skyvan (model) flying off water.

Skyvan: the box the Twin Otter came in.
Hah!
Hah!

Seriously folks, my all-time favourite skydiving platform is a Pink Skyvan.

You could probably use the Twin Otter floats for the Skyvan, they have practically the same empty weight/max' take off weights.
I'm considering building a model Skyvan with the amphibian floats the Twin Otter comes equipped with.
