In 1959 there were some conceptual work done in the Polish air force with respect to the in-flight refuelling. Three schemes were taken into consideration:
Scheme A - Lim-2 (licence-built MiG-15bis) or Lim-5 (licence-built MiG-17F) as a tanker and Lim-5 as a receiver. The drouge of the tanker would be installed in the port underwing tank.
Scheme B - Lim-2 or Lim-5 as a tanker and Lim-5 as a receiver. The drogue would be installed under the tanker's belly (fuel would be transferred from the tanker's main tank).
Scheme C - Il-28 as a tanker and Lim-5 as a receiver. The drouge would be installed in the Il-28's bomb bay. The tanker would carry fuel for two fighters.
The design of instalation of a probe in the receiving Lim-5 was referred to as Scheme D.
During discussions in the air force's HQ Scheme C was considered the only worth further development. The project was however closed in the early 1960s.
