Erik Simonsen's next book is due out in June. It looks to be a good one. The artwork looks amazing.

This looks like it's gonna be a great companion to Project Terminated!

Here's a few more samples of Erik Simonsen's artwork to wet your whistle.

Is that F-16XL with mid-span verticals and a canard a real concept?

Looks like the Himat derived fighter to me. Can't imagine what competition that is allocated to in the book.

I'd think the XL wing with the canard would be. . .not good.

Um.

Not sure why that is in there then, unless it was Erik Simonsen's submission to the little-known "design your own fighter" fly-off competition.

He's probably talking about the prelude of the ATF programs like HiMAT. I know he did a lot of that in his book Project Terminated.

More than likely because he's putting YF-23 artwork in the book too. Plus Project Terminated had little sidebars on other projects besides the featured attractions of the book.

Love that picture of the wild weasel f-107! :D
I can't help but think the proposed two-seat version would be better for that role. Still, looks beautiful.

Are prints of his art available?

Yes, but there's artistic license (here's a production F-23) and fantasy (Here's a cool plane I just made up).

I think it's a little bit of both. But for the most part, Erik keeps his art factual.

That first book did pretty good with the artwork.

Does this book cover helicopters also? I'd love to find out a bit more about the AHIP selection in 1981.

500 Fan.

Probably not. Erik's last book, PROJECT TERMINATED, dealt with well-known aircraft cancellations like the YB-49, CF- 105, XF-108 and so forth. Unfortunately, there weren't any helicopters covered. I'm not sure helicopters will be covered in this volume either.

Erik is, however, on Facebook and he has been previewing his artwork for the upcoming book on pages such as this one, also called Project Terminated: https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=242332065894083&tsid=0.22649196907877922&source=typeahead

Here's a taste from a couple of days ago,
