In 1959 the Junkers Flugzeug Motorenwerke München filed a patent for a STOL fighter.
Basíc idea was to increase thrust to a thrust/weight ration of about 1.4 and wing area
to achieve a wing loading between 200 to 300 kg/sqm.
According to my interpretation of the darwing, a 4-leg landing gear with exceptionally
long legs was envisaged, probably giving a strong nose-up attitude on the ground.

Very neat. I'd love to see some artistic interpretations of this thing taking off!

Six years ago you wrote (http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1122.msg18412.html#msg18412):

In my latest aquisition, "Flying Wings" by Rudolf Storck, I found on the inside
of the cover two drawings of the He 011, and quite clearly the aircraft carries
wingtip rails and missiles, which don't look like sidewinders. But what type they
are, or if they should resemble a real type at all, I don't know. And the He 011
isn't mentioned an more in the book at all ...

strange, really strange !

So it's turned out that this project was not Heinkel's but of Junkers, hasn't it?

"To be friggin' blind", that's, I think a good word ....
Really embarrassing, especially as I just had this book on my desk again for quite a while
(as I was to lazy, to return it to the shelf again, to be honest), but who looks inside the cover ? :-[

Many thanks for helping up my bad memory !

(Split my old post from the Heinkel thread and added it here)
