Quadrotors seem to be a new god. more like a false prophet. Little profit in continuous expensive crash sites.

how about let's get back to airplanes.

I wonder how many future/improved weapons programs have this said about them?

“With the right funding and time, we could probably do it within a few years,” he added.

So, a 50 year old weapon design is now considered new? I remember firing an L35a1 Carl Gustav back in 1977...

The article never calls it new, just points to the substantial improvements in the latest version. Shaving six pounds off the weight and improving functionality (like a programmable fuze setter) seems pretty impressive.

Without a doubt but the weapon still remains at it's heart a Carl Gustav RCL. I question the value of shortening it's barrel, though. The design is still 50 years old.

What's your point? So what if the basic design is old. It seems to be very good at meeting the actual needs of the troops.

Standard ammunition will ricochet off the surface of the water, potentially putting other U.S. ships in harm’s way, Garberg said.
To solve this problem, U.S. Navy ships have been using expensive 30 mm rounds.

Specifically, the supercavitating 30mm x 173mm MK 258 Mod 1 APFDS-T.

Not sure how expensive they are per round since the USG (in its wisdom) now
redacts medium caliber ammunition quantities.

Thank you posting Bobbymike.
The basic tech has been around since the 90s w/Project Whitecloud or Inertial reticle sys (IRS) it would seem this would have long been fielded not that commercial systems are now available to civilians. One can only look at the ineptaphids filling govn offices.
