Hi!

USN were declared with competition on a deck bomber (~ 1957 year).

13 firms take part in competition on a deck bomber for replacement A4D "Skyray". On tactical data the plane should have subsonic speed
and good controllability on small speeds. As a power-plant can be used J52, or T55 and T64, last capacity of 2600 horsepowers. All these engines are on various stages of completion.

It is the short information it is resulted from magazine Aviation Daily, 1957, Vol.111, N.28, page 269 and 272.

The greater request if who can look this magazine, let will give the list of these firms. Or, if who can look this magazine, let will allow us to look spears of these pages.

A4D Skyhawk or F4D Skyray?

It's always been said that the A-7 Corsair II was the A-4 replacement. Is it possible that the 1957 competition was put on hold in the early 1960s thanks to politics?
