P1 was a single-seat touring aircraft, not a fighter
 
The Piaggio P.18 wasn't a bomber. Both the P.18 and P.20 were reconnaissance float aircraft projects to the 1933 Regia Marina requirement filled by the Ro.43.

I've seen the Piaggio P.33 linked to the Caproni Ca.616. So, presumably a Giovanni Pegna design?

be you meant Ca.316.
 
Hi Hesham. I'm not sure what to make of that P.33/Ca.616 reference. All of the aircraft/projects in the Caproni-Predappio Ca.600-block were light aerobatic aircraft and nove, AKAIK, reached those designations reached '616 :-\

firstly, my apolgises for the long silence on this blog: as you probably know, Italy is enduring an harsh crysis and I'm multiplying my efforts to rising some money...
About Piaggio designations, I have the sensation that P-34 to P-49, and P-51 to P-99 never were allocated.
About P.101 I found only rumours about an iteration of P.50 or an early configuration of four-engined bomber that became the P.108B (that, in fact was itself a re-engineering of the P.50 with metal airframe).
P.120 was a reconnaissance aircraft, answering a requirement of may 1938.
P.124 was the projet of a floatplane submitted for the requirements of July 1 1939 and May 1, 1940.
P.138: I know only that was a project to be powered by two 1.825 HP engines.
P.139: probably was an iteration of P.138.
P.141: I know only that was a project to be powered by four 1.200 HP engines.
P.142: I know only that was a project to be powered by two 450 HP engines.
P.144: I know only that was a project to be powered by single 1.010 HP engine.
P.145: perhaps was a designation applied twice; I have also indication of an advanced trainer in the same class of T-33.
P.147: I know only that was a project to be powered by four 1.010 HP engines.
P.156: only rumours abot a derivative of the P.155 family.
P.157: trasport aircraft designed in 1956 (no more info).
P.158: perhaps named Executive (twin engine, no more info)
P.159: circa 1955, perhaps fighter aircraft (no more info).
P.167: rumours about a derivative of the P.166 family.
P.168: project designation of P.166DL-3.
RP.168: project of a commercial "quiet STOL".
P.181: rumours about a pre-project of a twin jet entry level executive.
RP.196: four-engined light transport
P.1XX is a provisional designation for a twin jet entry level executive in development for some years.

...again on the Piaggio theme, I found a rather bad slide of an unidentified wooden wind-tunnell test model. As you know, modern scanners have some trouble with 35-mm slides, and, moreover, this particular shot is out of focus. I suppose that the label on the nose could read P.142, ma it's also possible that the aircraft is the P.115 or one of the various derivative of the P.32 family that Piaggio apparently continued for some time even when eng. Pegna joined Caproni-Reggiane.
I cannot say "enjoy it" as I'm well aware that the picture is very bad

Hi Hesham and all,
continuing on the same subject, I found, on the already mentioned issues of "Aero Fan" and in my archives, some pictures of the lesser known Piaggio projects of late thirties.
All are related to shipborne seaplanes, answering the various Regia Aeronautica/Regia Marina requirements for reconnaissance aircraft destined to battheships and cruisers.
There are the P.109, P.113, P.117, P.120 and P.124. Some are wooden small scale wind tunnell models and others are preliminary technical drawings. The seaplane seemingly flying in front of the pier of the Piaggio's Finale Ligure Marina plant (where seaplanes were built) is probably tha same model or mock-up appearing in the "Luce" movie, already shown on Secret Projects.

I heard that the Piaggio P.102 was also a heavy bomber project,is that right ?.
 
My Dears,
unfortunately I failed to find any further hint about the P.102. It seems that it was for sure a four-engined plane but I cannot say if commercial or bomber.
By the way, about the Piaggio lineage, in my previous post I wrote that the P.1HH Hammerhead is an optionally manned drone. In fact, only the technology demonstrator was such an aircraft as the definitive prototype is only unmanned.

P-138 was medium size amphibian twin engined Project.
P-145 was twin engined (not four) transport aircraft Project.
 
P.2HH MALE drone. Larger wing and airframe than the P.1HH Hammerhead, with more composites making up it's airframe. Maximum endurance of 30h. Development plan was costed at €766 million. Work on the programme, for which Leonardo would supply the mission system, was to begin in 2017, with first deliveries 55 months later. The procurement plan was presented to parliament in February 2018. Program currently in limbo as of late 2018 due to the new Italian government.
