During the dark days of WW2 the british developed a LMG based on thr Bren in case the Bren factory got bombed. Does anyone here have any information on this weapon?

Saw this from 'Forgotten Weapons.com' and to be honest it looks like quite a decent machine gun and even though they wanted a cheap and basic gun it still looks quite well manufactured, interesting cocking handle design

https://armourersbench.com/2017/07/13/besal-light-machine-gun/ the armourer bench has a very good article on this weapon.

WI BESAL was manufactured in Australia, Canada or India?

Nope. Only Besal prototypes were built in the UK. The gun was never produced in quantity. The Bren was built in the UK in quantity, as well as in Canada, India and in Australia. Until quite recently, the Bren, in 7.62x51 was still available from India.
