Sorry AG, that's all I have this time around. There's 3 or 4 full drawers of XC-142 stuff in the archives thanks to Dick Atkins. If it were not for him, and many others in the retiree's group who dumpster dived and hauled these treasures home, it would probably would not exist for the rest of us to enjoy. I plan on spending a lot more time going thru the XC-142 stuff next time I am down there.

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Dear Boys and Girls, here is a short article in French about the Ling-Temco-Vought XC-142A V/STOL tilt-wing turboprop "tri-service" transport; illustrated by a picture of the full-scale mock-up. At this time, the XC-142A was still a Vought-Hiller-Ryan product. The article points out the similarity of the inter-connected propulsion system to that of the Bréguet Br.941 STOL transport; albeit twice as powerful for vertical lift-off. The article also acknowledges that the USA was the only country capable of producing such a design such as the XC-142A......

The article comes from the 15th June 1963 issue of Aviation Magazine......

Just superb! Thanks a lot. There is a unique style and flair to these old paintings that can't be matched nowadays I think.

Does anyone know where i might find information on the wingfold mechanism envisioned for shipborne use? I know the wing was supposed to be pivoted in the upright position, and then a chordwise hinge was used to fold the wings alongside the fuselage.
I am curious to find out how they planned to disconnect the driveshafts running from the centerline three-way gearbox to the inboard engines.
Is there anything useful in this regard in the Ginter book on the XC-142? Thanks!
