Hi All,
I'm looking for some interior photo's of the Chinese Tu-4/B-29 AWACS, the Kong Jiang-1, especially the electronics's section where all the radar operator's sat as I'm not even sure if that was in a modified bomb bay or in the mid gunners/bunk section.
Thanks for looking and all the best
Steve

Super photos, many thanks for sharing. ;D
All the best
Steve

Thanks for those photos !

What puzzles me, is the object in the nose. Isn't that
a bomb sight ? In an AEW aircraft ? ???

Actually I think that's not too strange !

The KJ-1 was nothing more than a testbed converted / based on a retired Tu-4. As such I think they simply left as much of the original airframe ...

Probably right, but hopefully they at least locked the bomb bay doors. Could ruin the
day for the radar operators, if someone in the cockpit accidentally pushes the wrong lever ! ;D

It is on show in Chiese Aviation Museum in BEIJING...

Thanks to Jemiba for the link to the thread. I'm growing interested in the Chinese Tu-4s story. What is the best source of information on the subject ?

Im curious tho what kind of Radar the Chinese plan for the KJ-1. All i heard however that it was cancelled for being too heavy.

Apparently Globalsecurity host quite interesting insight on this aircraft and its history.
